EXPERIENCE

CREATIVE SUPREMO – PR INTERN
August 2016 – Present

During my summer placement at Supremo, I took ownership of the Twitter account of the Creative Cup, an event Supremo hosts annually, and used Hootsuite to schedule regular tweets in relation of this. To support the social media element element of this role, I wrote press releases and blog posts to raise awareness of the event.

I am now working remotely for Supremo, and write blog posts in order to drive the Supremo blog forward. I am interested in the area of content marketing as well as being educated about SEO.
I also promote the blogposts and schedule relevant tweets and try to gain coverage for various projects. As well as this, I promote sites they have launched.

LEEDS BECKETT COMMUNICATIONS – PR INTERN
April 2017 – May 2017

During my time on placement, I have had a taste of how a higher education institute handles their communications and worked on both internal and external communications.
I have achieved coverage in regional news publications, as well as writing stories for both the website and the staff news bulletin.

CLEARSILVER BRAND MARKETING – PR INTERN
November 2016 – March 2017

Throughout my time at Clearsilver, I have learned a lot about working in an agency setting. I have created media lists, written press releases and produced copy for B2B audiences, as well as scanning the news for relevant stories on a weekly basis.

HEART RESEARCH UK – PR INTERN
January 2016 – November 2016

I worked with the communications and fundraising teams at Heart Research UK for one day a week.
I would write and send out press releases using Cision, as well as writing copy for the website and social media. Regularly speaking to and interviewing supporters in order to convey their stories and gain press coverage was one of my favourite parts of working with Heart Research UK.
I also contributed to the planning of Heart Research UK’s “Day in the Dales” event, researching potential stall holders and contacting relevant organisations.

THE BELIEVE AND ACHIEVE TRUST – SOCIAL MEDIA
May 2014 – July 2015

When local charity The Believe and Achieve Trust was first set up, I was responsible for the running of their Facebook and Twitter accounts.  As part of this, I boosted the newly formed charity’s online presence enormously, with the Facebook and Twitter accounts gaining 1000 likes.

VOLUNTEERING

LEEDS BECKETT STUDENTS’ UNION – RAG SOCIETY PRESIDENT

2013 – Present

I have raised over £6000 for the charity Meningitis Now during my time as a young ambassador, as well as organising events, giving speeches and volunteering at family days to provide support to those impacted by meningitis.  Over the last three years, I have represented the charity by speaking to the media, (including Radio Aire, Made in Leeds, the Bolton News, and Salford Advertiser) holding live music events, attending receptions at the Houses of Parliament, as well as delivering a petition to both Downing Street itself and the Department of Health.  I also write blogs aimed at young people on the topic of meningitis.
